Alma Tadema – At home in Antiquity, Leighton House, 23 October 2017.

A guided tour of the splendid exhibition by Daniel Robbins the senior curator at Leighton House. Tadema was a successful and important figure in the artistic establishment in London and a contemporary of Whistler. They were on friendly terms until Tadema’s implied slight which Whistler responded to with a letter in the Pall Mall Gazette in August 1895. Tadema never lived in Chelsea, and his surviving studio is in St Johns Wood. To inquire about the visit contact enquires@whistlersociety.org.
